Form - Work Diary

For this I went out and look at things that I could see part of, or the whole of, an object and the shadow it casts.  I think these are the two best photos that I took:

I think this photo is good as you can clearly see the 3 dimensional nature of the pillar as the right hand side is bright and the left hand side is dark/in shadow with its shadow extending from it.

This photo I think is good as you can see the light shining through the window and the shadow cast by the frame on the wall on the other side.

If I was to go out and shoot form again I would look at series of objects that are the same so there is a slightly different perspective on each ones form.

Form - Definition

Dictionary Definition:
- At its most basis, a form is a three-dimensional geometrical figure.
- A particular way in which a thing exists or appears.

Describing words:

Striking, unusual, precarious, terrifying, colourless

1) I think this photo portrays light well with the highlight around the edge of the chess pieces and the dark areas around the front and hints of shadows in front of the pieces.
2) I like this piece as it is like an origami figure with lots of curves and folds and the form is displayed well with the lighting used.
3) This photo show form well as the inside of the shell is shaded while the outside is in light giving an indication to the shape of the shell.
4) I like this photo as the grayscale effect emphasise the form of the tomato as you can more clearly see the highlight and the shadows on either side of it.

My Definition:
- The way which something appears or it's structure.

Form - Image Bank

1) I really like this photo as you can see the form with the highlights around the edge of the chess pieces and the front of them is in shadow.
2) These next two photos show form in the same way with both of them the side closest to the camera is in shadow and the other parts are in the light.

3) These next two photos show form as different parts of the objects are in light and other parts are in shadow.

 4) This photo portrays form as the top part of the 'leaves' are highlighted but the curved parts are in shadow.
